A baby infant deer was found under the ferns; so she came to live. She was called Fern; Fernie to her intimates. She believed the humans, the cats, the dogs, were all her family. What did she know? She slept in bed with her family. Slowly she grew up until she nearly hit the ceiling. She had to sleep outside, except she trusted everything and everybody. Until one day she was gone.
